GreenRoad develops driver safety technologies that stop risky driving before an accident occurs, and dramatically reduce crash rates for fleets and insurance companies. Our solutions empower drivers to manage their own safety by giving instantaneous, in-vehicle driver feedback—without privacy invasions. We focus on how they are driving, not where, and we aren’t watching with intrusive video cameras. Over time, we can actually change driver behavior behind the wheel. GreenRoad Safety Center combines in-vehicle technology with integrated web applications for an advanced approach that continuously rates driving skills and safety levels, trains drivers in real time by providing feedback as they drive, and helps maintain the change through continuous reinforcement. Sensors installed in the vehicle collect information that analyzes driver skill and detects maneuvers the driver performs such as braking, accelerating, lane changing, passing, cornering, swerving, speeding and much more. A simple “green, yellow, red” display in the vehicle alerts the driver about their current and ongoing safety status, and a tone can be set to alert the driver that their driving is unsafe. Drivers and fleet managers can look at continuously updated reports on the Safety Center Web Dashboard. |
Company History |
GreenRoad was founded in Israel by Hod Fleishman and Ofer Raz under the temporary name DriveDiagnostics. Hod and Ofer spent three years developing the underlying technology that powers Safety Center, convinced that they could leverage technology to assess driver safety through vehicle movements and a new class of technology—In-Vehicle Data Recorders (IVDRs). They then spent two years in testing with fleet, insurance companies and consumers in Israel, the UK and the US. The results were dramatic, with GreenRoad customers achieving:
In late 2006, the company was funded by Benchmark Capital is Israel and Balderton Capital (formerly Benchmark Europe) in the UK. Over the next few months, the management team was put into place, and the company opened its US headquarters in August of 2007. In early 2008, Virgin Green Fund joined as a lead investor. |
